Cheers to beginning the New Year with good skin and a resolution to maintain it! If it’s not the first year you’ve tried this, I’ve got good news for you: there are skin care resolutions you can actually keep!

I’m not kidding!

I’m about to walk you through a few of them that don’t take ages. If you’re like me, then you can’t spend two hours a day taking care of your skin (in addition to the others you take care of the rest of your body).

Who’s got time for that?

Unless you’re a celeb, of course! For us, regular mortals without personal trainers, counselors and beauty advisors, shortcuts are a must.

Here are a few of my favorites.

4 Skin Care Resolutions to Ring in 2018

Keep Your Tools Clean

Making or breaking a habit takes about 21 days. If you really care about your skin, you’ll dedicate the upcoming 21 days to include cleaning your makeup brushes on a weekly basis in your routine. Even though they may seem tidy and clean, the bristles are easily filled with bacteria and germs that may be transferred to the skin.

The consequences are clogged pores, acne and a dull complexion. To avoid them all, all you need is 5 minutes per week to clean them. Use shampoo or your face lotion – you don’t need anything too complicated.

Change Your Pillowcase Twice a Week

You may have heard of this before. However, it is essential that you take this advice seriously this year. Bacteria build up in your pillowcase and increase the chances of an acne breakout. Therefore, commit to changing your pillowcase at least twice a week this year.

As promised, this is another skin care resolution that takes under 5 minutes!

Always Wash Your Skin and Hydrate it Before Bed

It’s easy to skip washing after a long and busy day or a crazy night and head straight to bed. Let’s be honest now: we all do it every once in a while. If you do it twice a year, that’s (almost) OK. But if you make a habit out of it, your skin will suffer.

Makeup removal and cleansing are essential in avoiding clogged pores. Even more, the night is the ideal time to nourish your skin with powerful nutrients. Washing, cleansing and applying moisturizer shouldn’t take more than 4-5 minutes every night.

Get a Professional Treatment every two Months

OK, this one’s a bit more time-consuming, I admit. But the effects of professional procedures on your skin are worth it.

A microdermabrasion will clean your skin and nourish it profusely. It will also help you reduce wrinkles and fine lines. The same goes for chemical peels. An IPL rejuvenation session can shave 10 years off your face.

Getting to the clinic and having the procedure done can take more than two or three hours. But it’s every two months, so it’s not such a big ordeal, is it?


All in all, these four skin care resolutions shouldn’t eat up more than 15 minutes every day. And that’s including a bunch of activities that you don’t have to do every day.
